Statistical Shape Modeling Pipeline

Founding initiative - CO-ME Phase 3

The VSD has emerged from the CO-ME Project Phase 3 (2009-2013).

In WP 05: The Virtual Skeleton Database develops a database for the management of medical images and subsequently generated models of the bony anatomy. The database will provide a framework for the integration of statistical shape models. This will contribute to less invasive procedures, e.g. by reduced radiation exposure, and it will enable patient specific implant design. After the termiation of CO-ME, the VSD was transfered to SICAS. SICA has emerged from the National Center of Competence in Research NCCR CO-ME and is providing a support platform for collaboration in translational R&D, education, technology transfer and innovation promotion.

Developing Meta- and Hyper-Multiscale Models and Repositories for In Silico Oncology: After passing through the de-identification and (pseudo)-anonymization processes all the relevant medical data including imaging, clinical, histological and gentetic data for each patient will be hosted by the clinical data repository.
